SOCIAL GROUPS
Our social communication groups provide a supportive, engaging space where children can build the skills needed to connect with others in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to them. Rather than focusing on “fixing” social differences, our groups help children expand their communication toolbox, develop confidence, and navigate interactions with peers in a way that honors their individual strengths.
Through play-based, structured, and semi-structured activities, children have opportunities to practice foundational skills for peer interaction. These include sharing attention, taking turns, expressing ideas and preferences, problem-solving, and participating in collaborative play. Clinicians provide gentle guidance, modeling, and individualized support to help each child engage at their own pace.
Social groups also foster the development of flexible thinking and collaboration—skills that are essential for working with others over time. Children learn how to contribute ideas, respond to peers, navigate differences, and participate in group activities. These experiences help build a foundation for future success in school settings, friendships, and team-based environments.
We recognize that communication looks different for every child. Whether a child uses spoken language, gestures, AAC, or a combination of methods, all forms of communication are valued and supported within our groups. Our goal is to help each child feel understood, respected, and capable as they grow their ability to connect with others.
